Building a Fair Fund: Minnesota State Fair Budget Tips

How to Save Money at the Minnesota State Fair

Director of Marketing & Sales, Nick Foulks, from Great Waters Financial recently joined WCCO to talk about one of the most beloved events of the year and one that can quietly do a number on your wallet. Between food, drinks, souvenirs, and admission, the costs add up faster than most people expect. A realistic starting point is $50 to $75 per person per day, and that does not even include parking or admission. Going in with a number in mind is far better than going in with none at all.

Ways to Keep Costs Down

Eat before you go, share food with your group, and bring a water bottle if it is allowed. Check for discounted or online tickets before you arrive and look into military, senior, or group discount days. Small habits like these can make a real difference without taking the fun out of the day.

Cash or Credit Card?

Cash works as a natural spending limit. When it is gone, you are done. Credit cards offer more security and let you set spending alerts in advance to avoid the swipe effect. Neither is wrong. What matters is that you decide intentionally before you go.
